The Lenger Seafoods Group has been farming and fishing in the best sources in the world for 40 years now. It all
started in the Wadden Sea, nearby Harlingen. Since then many new raw material sources have been added. Always
carefully selected for quality, food safety, and sustainable catch.
The Dutch Wadden Sea is known for the delicious salty taste it imparts to its raw materials. Lenger has a strong
position in this area, which has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. Our experienced fishermen catch the best
quality cockles in Europe. Previously, this was done mechanically but since 2005, fishing for cockles has been made
more sustainable and the cockles are MSC-certified. These days, fishermen use a traditional manual technique which
is MSC certified, the so-called “Wonderklauw”.
Seafood begins at carefully selected fishing areas and
aquaculture locations. Working with trusted fishermen and
partners, Lenger Seafoods ensures responsible harvesting
and consistent quality from the very start.
Lenger Seafoods has expanded its state-of-the-art de-sanding system in Harlingen, capable of handling up to 200 tons of shellfish per day. This innovative process ensures every product is perfectly clean, safe, and full of authentic sea flavor.
